Dark Devotion Images
New brand design and website for alternative photographer
The Breif
After changing direction this business needed a new name and brand Identity. Aiming its services to alternative sub cultures creating real images of real people.
Who is Dark Devotion Images?
Rob has been photographing people over the last 10 years and decied to aim the business at the alternative subcultures.
He said “I started this business after noticing photographers aiming their services at alternative subcultures by setting up shoots they labelled as goth. Models dressed up as goths, punks and other subcultures. (A black dress doesn’t make it a goth wedding).
‘Culture not costume’, has been a big part of this recent spring goth festival in Whitby. Goth isn’t a theme, it is a 24/7 lifestyle. As a goth who is a photographer, the scene is important to me and seeing photoshoots set up to look goth really is a talking point in the goth community. (As I found out over the weekend when many real goths spoke to me about this, a few saying it was disrespectful to the goth subculture).
I only photograph real people; real goths, real lifestyles. My work is about those central to the image, those the image is for. Goth is a wide subculture with different personal styles but we are all united by one word; GOTH.”
